WHAT is the Work From Home Initiative?
The resolution passed by the Social Good Summit supports the creation of an Austin citywide “Work-From-Home” initiative that includes all businesses and citizens who are able to participate, without inhibiting the city’s daily operations. In Austin, our citizens can effectively contribute to reducing our traffic carbon emissions, as these are one of the leading sources of our city’s increased air pollution.
WHY do a Work From Home Initiative?
As citizens of Austin, we see it as our responsibility to keep Austin as beautiful, healthy, and thriving as ever. The members of Social Good Summit Austin know that the contribution of individual efforts can lead to a huge difference. Our city needs to be a starting line to show the rest of the world what can be done when we cut through politics and gather together for a greater purpose … caring for our shared world.
WHEN is the Work From Home Initiative?
We are planning a pilot 10,000 Cars Off The Road day for Friday, February 8, 2013. On that day, we ask everyone who is willing and able to participate – especially companies that employ the largest number of Austin residents – to allow a significant fraction of their workforce to “work-from-home” for that day. Our team will coordinate with all participating companies to provide options and tools for workers to be productive while outside of the office and separated from their co-workers.
